Or more to the point, we don't consider ourselves a web design shop, despite the name. Instead, we're a marketing firm tasked with the fundamental objective of generating more new patients and keeping existing patients coming back to your practice. How we end up doing that is a matter of a lot of factors, such as what you are doing already, what your other goals and objectives are, what your budget is, who your primary target is, what your 'professional personality' is like, etc. There is no silver bullet that we use. True, most of our projects involve building (or revamping) websites. But that's just one tool in our box. Obviously, we can't talk about driving traffic to your website without talking about search engine optimization (SEO) in both the realms of 'organic placement' (ie, your listing comes up in the natural search results) and 'paid inclusion' (ie, you pay to have your listing come up.)

Online and Offline Marketing (print ads, bill boards, trade show booths, etc.)
One of the biggest misconceptions is that the only way to get traffic to your website is to come up on Google's first page. Not true! (Granted, that helps, but let's face it: not everyone can come up in the top 10 listing for their primary search terms.) If you don't have the budget to simply buy your way to the top, there are other ways to get traffic to your site. A LOT of other ways. And the best part is, some of these are totally FREE!

Backoffice Applications for your Practice
If your practice has outgrown a primitive system of appointment books and manilla folders, you may want to consider investing in a robust backoffice application to help streamline the day-to-day operational aspects of your practice. Custom database applications like this can not only make your life easier, but they can really save a lot of time and staff man-hours that cost your practice money. In other words, these applications can easily pay for themselves in no time. Ask yourself how much one of your employees makes per year. Chances are many of the tasks of that position could be automated and computerized thus eliminating the need for that position (or the need to hire additional future additions for that position as your office grows).
Patient Intranets
How much time do you spend with a patient doing things that they could be doing themselves? Don't get us wrong: there is no computer substitute for the doctor-patient interaction. And we are not at all suggesting that you take the human factor out of your dealings with patients. But some routine tasks could be automated to save you and your staff time, save the patient time, and provide for more thorough, accurate, and timely information. For instance, your patient history could be entered by the patient directly prior to them coming in to the office. Or if the patient needed post-op instructions, all of those could be made available for them on their own personalized area on your website. (Hint: this is a great way to keep them coming back to your site so that you can continue to subtly market to them.)
Staff Intranets
We often see very primitive systems in place for the doctors and staff to interact. Everything from white boards to Post-It Notes™. Would it be nice if you had a centralized scheduling system in which your whole staff could easily interact with (and it could even be tied to your website so patiences could self-schedule, saving you time and minimizing your down time!) Patient charts could be fully computerized (and yes, we can do this and still be HIPAA compliant) so that updates are instant and there would never be duplicate data entry. A wireless system could even enable doctors to get patient histories and charts on their mobile device on their way into a consultation room so that they are up to speed as soon as they walk through the door. When notes and entries are made, the patient's record is updated instantly making it unecessary for someone else to add the doctor's notes and file things manually (again, think of the time saving potential here!) The possibilities are endless. And as you may have guessed, the intranets, extranets, and custom backoffice appliations can all be one in the same sort of system so everything runs together like a well oiled machine.
